Vistancia Completes Discovery Trail Linking Community to Schools, Recreational and Retail

PEORIA, Ariz. (November 19, 2013)- Vistancia is celebrating the completion of the Discovery Trail, an imaginative 3.5-mile educational trail located in the natural Sonoran desert beauty of the northwest valley, linking the master plan to the community’s schools, recreational and retail amenities.

The final three-quarter mile segment of the trail has been completed at the north end of Vistancia Boulevard with the addition of a decorative steel medallion to mark the entrance to the trail’s Desert Garden. Also, the distinctive 10-foot integral color concrete path was continued, featuring lighted bollards just north of Vistancia’s Riverwalk Park which offers a myriad of recreational opportunities for residents. Additional access points to the Discovery Trail now includes the Ironwood Ridge neighborhood, Westland Park near the Lake Pleasant Elementary School and the six-acre recreational facility, Foothills Center offering residents easy access to the trail system.

Additional features along the final segment of the Discovery Trail include four benches and a bicycle rack. Residents will be able to take a hike along the new trail section to the top of the Vista View, just northwest of the Foothills Center. There, hikers can discover an interactive sundial that uses human shadows to tell the time of day.

Characterized by lush Saguaros, native arroyos, heavily vegetated washes, burrowing jackrabbits, and captivating desert vistas around every bend, the Discovery Trail integrates seamlessly into the community, offering a collection of one-of-a-kind discoveries and outdoor fitness experiences.
